How to Save on a Disney Cruise

As a travel agent, I often price out different vacation packages “just to see.”  Doing that kind of thing helps me to stay up to date when people ask me when the cheapest time to visit a particular destination is, or ask for a price off the top of my head.  But let’s be honest, I’m usually pricing these out for myself.

Well, tonight, I just saw an incredible deal that someone needs to jump on NOW!

As far as cruise line pricing is concerned, Disney is generally on the higher end.  I have always attributed the increased fares due to the lack of an on board casino, but most think that guests pay extra for the superior service one receives when sailing on board a Disney ship.  Maybe it’s a bit of both.  I guess Disney needs to cover the cost of all that free soda they give away on their ships.  Yes, that’s right!  You don’t need to buy a special soda card or cup for unlimited carbonation during your cruise!!

We had the chance to experience a Disney cruise for ourselves last April, and totally bought into the “it’s worth the extra money” line, and we have our next cruise booked in March – a Marvel Day at Sea cruise!  Right after Captain Marvel is released!  I am so freaking excited!

Our current vacation plans for the fall have recently fallen through, and we are considering other options…so I found myself pricing out some Halloween on the High Seas cruises in September and October.

I had to do a double take when I saw an INCREDIBLE price on a 4 night Disney Dream cruise on September 3rd of this year!  Then I noticed that it was for a “VGT” stateroom and realized that this is truly a money saver!

If you have cruised in the past, then you might be familiar with the “guarantee” category of staterooms.  Basically, what this means is that you are guaranteed a minimum category.  On Disney ships, the three main categories are inside, oceanview, and verandah staterooms.  This particular fare I saw was for a verandah category, so by booking this rate, you are guaranteed at least a verandah stateroom.  They won’t place you in an oceanview or inside stateroom.  The catch?  You have no idea where on the ship your room will be until you arrive.

Because these rooms require guests to be flexible, they can be offered at incredible rates, like the one I saw tonight.  I know…get to it already!!

I priced out a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under 10) on this cruise for only $2997.56.

minnieY’all…that is an INSANE price for a 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream.  Let’s not forget that because this sailing is in September, this is also a special Halloween on the High Seas cruise.  Every Disney cruise has a pirate night on board.  This one also has a massive Halloween party, complete with decorations, costumes, and trick or treating on board!  Oh, and since you’re also on a cruise, so you’ll get to go to a couple of awesome places:

  1. Port Canaveral
  2. Nassau Bahamas
  3. Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island)
  4. Day at sea
  5. Back to Port Canaveral

When I look at the price ON THE SAME SAILING for an inside stateroom, the cheapest price is $3355.32, so a VERANDAH stateroom is CHEAPER than an inside stateroom.  Yes, the inside staterooms on the Dream are cool with the Magic Portholes, but I’d rather have my own balcony to be able to step outside and look at the ocean anytime I want.  The cheapest oceanview room?  $3483.32.  The next cheapest verandah room?  $3675.32.

No, Disney does not ever have sales on cruise fares, but this is the next best thing.  If you have been wanting to give a Disney cruise a try but the price has kept you from booking, then this is how you make it happen.

These rates do not last long.  Full payment is also due at the time of booking, and there are NO refunds.  So, there are some risks on your part, but the price makes it worth it.  If you are interested in booking one of these discounted rates, let me know ASAP!  Since I cannot hold guarantee staterooms, you have to be ready to book right away.  I had a client recently who was looking at one of these sailings, and it was gone by the time she was ready to book, which was about a day later.  So, if it’s there, you need to be ready to go!

I hope this helps someone snag a great rate on a Disney cruise.  I hope even more that you let me book it for you!  🙂
